Passenger vans & people movers
Cast and crew between basecamp, set and whatever parking the location actually gave you. This is the unit the company started with.
What it is for
Location parking is never where the location is. The van is what closes that gap: crew from the lot to the set at call, cast from the trailers to the shot, everybody back at wrap without twenty people walking a mile in the dark carrying gear.
Productions also use them for airport and hotel runs on out-of-town crew, for shuttling background between holding and set, and as the vehicle that simply keeps moving all day while nothing else can get close enough. On a location shoot with a tight footprint, the van is doing more work than anything else on the call sheet.
Seat count, configuration and whether the rear row comes out for gear are confirmed against the actual van on your dates confirm. Ask on the call and you will get the real number for the real vehicle.
The van we started with
In 2003 Jimmy bought a passenger van. That was the company: one van, one phone, one guy who showed up when he said he would. Everything on this site — the stakebeds, the restroom trailers, twenty-plus years of Los Angeles call sheets — came out of that one purchase.
It is worth saying because it explains how the vans get treated. This is not the line we bolted on to look full-service. It is the original business, and it is still run by the person who bought the first one.
