What it is for

Location parking is never where the location is. A passenger van is what closes that gap: crew from the lot to set at call, cast from the trailers to the shot, everybody back at wrap without twenty people walking a mile in the dark carrying gear. Productions use them for airport and hotel runs on out-of-town crew, for moving background between holding and set, and as the vehicle that simply keeps going all day while nothing bigger can get close enough.

The one that matters here is a Ford E-350 4x4 — lifted, on all-terrain tires. Around Los Angeles that is not a styling choice. It is the fire road above Malibu, the dirt approach to a ranch in Agua Dulce, a wash out past Lancaster, a turnout in the canyons that goes to mud the first week it rains. A two-wheel-drive crew van gets left at the bottom of that road and your people walk the rest of it carrying the day’s work. This one does not.
