Video village rental in Los Angeles
Somewhere for the director, the DP, script and the client to watch the frame that is not a folding table in the sun.
What it is for
Video village is where the shot gets watched. Director, DP, script supervisor, and on a commercial the agency and the client too — all behind monitors, all needing power, shade and enough distance from the set to talk without ending up on the take. On a stage that space already exists. On location it has to arrive on a truck.
A video village unit is that space, delivered. It is the difference between a client who can see the frame from a seat and a client standing behind the operator asking what just happened. Get it wrong and somebody spends the day carrying a card table into the shade.
Configuration, footprint, power draw, and what monitors and furniture come with the unit are confirmed against the specific unit on your dates. Tell us how many people are actually sitting at the monitors and we will tell you what covers it.
Two things decide the quote
First, the headcount at the monitors. A director and a script supervisor is not the same unit as a director, a DP, two from the agency and a client who has flown in. Count the chairs you actually need, because that is the number the size is chosen from.
Second, power. House power at the location, a generator already on your call sheet, or nothing at all — each answer changes what turns up and what it costs. Tell us which one it is when you call and the quote comes back right the first time.
